In recent decade or so, the video game industry has grown to be the biggest area of popular entertainment, which, starting from releasing very simple games with bad graphics, quickly evolved into interactive animations which one could call art. Considering the visual excitement one can get from playing a videogame, the level of satisfaction can be matched to watching a movie. So, today, without a doubt, video industry has become a leading industry among all the other media industries, affecting both the young and the old population. The very evolution through film built the video industry, which includes hardware (game consoles) and software (games). This paper explains the stages and genres of the videogames in industry, both in the world and, in more detail, in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, in terms of creating a new view of the world and new trends in the market. Likewise, research was conducted on the population of gamers in the Republic of Croatia, with the aim of researching the motives and attitudes of consumers in the context of the video industry. Marketing communication, which contributed the most to the popularization of the video industry in Croatia, is mentioned, as is the e-sport, an innovation that has the potential to become an Olympic sport. Also, a review of gaming culture in the Republic of Croatia was elaborated.
