The coronavirus pandemic and restrictions in the fight against the spread of the virus had a short-term positive impact on the environment and, consequently, human health in Europe and the world. There has been a temporary improvement in air quality that indicates a reduction in pollution, especially in urban areas where the air is the most polluted, which has resulted in a reduction in traffic. Emissions of harmful gases into the air also decreased due to a large drop in interstate travel in a world of industrial slowdown. Although the state of the environment has generally improved as a result of the pandemic, economic recovery is expected to return pollution to pre-pandemic levels. The outdoor and indoor air in the Republic of Croatia is polluted by particulate matter. PM10 or coarse particles are those that have a diameter of less than 10 microns and mainly contain iron, aluminum and silicate, and are mostly caused by exhaust gases from cars and industry, and their high concentration has an extremely bad effect on human health. Unlike other air pollutants, PM10 particles come undetected from many sources and are therefore difficult to keep at low levels. It is therefore not surprising that their emission levels have not changed much during the pandemic. Using secondary sources, methods of induction, description and analysis, this paper comes to the conclusion whether and to what extent the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the movement of PM10 levels.
