Quality of life encompasses one's personal satisfaction in various fields of everyday life such as health, emotional state, social relations, citizenship and rights, and material wellbeing. The quality of life in children with cerebral palsy is most often interpreted through physical aspects of wellbeing, and there is a lack of scientific knowledge about the quality of life in preschool children with cerebral palsy. In accordance to this notion, the main objective of this paper is to examine the concept of quality of life in preschool children with cerebral palsy (aged 3 to 7) and to offer an review of measuring instruments within the research methodology of this field. In order to question the entity of life of children with cerebral palsy aged 3 to 7 years, in the context of early intervention, an analysis of articles available in the scientific databases Hrčak, Pub Med, and Scopus was conducted. Key words in Croatian, English and German language quality of life + cerebral palsy + early intervention, were applied. From obtained findings, 254 articles were analyzed that investigate the quality of life in children with cerebral palsy within 6 areas: quality of life and developmental outcomes after therapeutic and rehabilitation procedures; quality of life and the presence of pain and comorbidity; parental quality of life; quality of life research methodology; quality of life in adolescents/adults with cerebral palsy; quality of life in children with cerebral palsy within different areas of life. The analysis of obtained literature shows that in assessing the quality of life in children with cerebral palsy, researchers predominantly focus on the perspective of the parents rather than the children themselves. The very role of early childhood intervention in the quality of life of the children with cerebral palsy is almost not present in the analyzed works. In the context of early intervention, the papers are mainly focused on therapeutic and rehabilitation procedures, and there is no systematic approach to examining the concept of quality of life. The results of the analysis indicate the need to design appropriate assessment tools that would allow the examination of the perception of quality of life in children with cerebral palsy.
