Voice is extremely important for quality of life, so problems in this area are particularly felt in the individual. Vocal professionals are a group of people who use their voice for the purpose of performing a professional activity, and their voice is a basic tool for doing their job. This group also includes educators. Frequent use of voice is the main reason why the symptoms of voice disorders occur. Risk factors that can contribute to the appearance of symptoms of voice disorders, such as lifestyle and environmental factors, are often mentioned in the literature. The aim of this research is to examine the habits and working conditions of educators in the Republic of Croatia and to see what their impact on voice quality is. 264 educators from different parts of the Republic of Croatia participated in the research. For research purposes, educators completed the questionnaire using Google ™ forms. The questionnaire consisted of 3 parts (the section on general information, the Screening Index for Voice Disorder (SIVD), and the Questionnaire on Habits and Environmental Factors Variables, created for research purposes). The collected data were statistically processed by the IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 computer program. The results showed that there was a statistically significant, positive but weak association between worse life habits and the onset of symptoms of voice disorders. Data analysis also revealed that there is a statistically significant, positive, but weak association between worse environmental factors in the work environment of the educator and the onset of symptoms of voice disorders. The study concludes that each factor has its effect and can contribute to the emergence of voice disorders, so their importance should not be diminished. In order to reduce the overall occurrence of voice disorders in this population, more time needs to be spent in educating educators and similar professions about risk factors that may adversely affect their voice, including their ability of doing the job properly.
