This research aims to gain insight into the experience of person-centred planning from the perspective of the planning participants themselves – the focus person and members of the circle of support, as well as insight into the benefits and possibilities of applying person- centred planning. In addition, this research aims to promote person-centred planning approach in educational and rehabilitation work with people with intellectual disabilities in the local environment of research participants, but also at the national level. First, MAPS planning was conducted, and then the focus group technique was used to examine the participants of the planning - focus person and members of the support circle about their experience and the experience of the process. Also a semi-structured interview was conducted with the focus person individually. The focus person in MAPS planning was a girl with intellectual disabilities aged 17 and a half who had chosen members of her support circle to participate in the planning as well as in the research. Participants were: mother, class teacher, friend and friend's mother. There were a total of 5 participants. The focus group and the semi-structured interview were recorded and the audio recording was transcribed. The qualitative material was processed by qualitative analysis. The results provided insight into the benefits of person-centered planning identified by participants for the focus person and support circle members, as well as insights into the experiences of focus person and support circle roles and the goals of the action plan. The research findings also identified the possibilities of applying person-centred support planning in the education system in the local environment of research participants. The conclusions of the research can serve as an incentive for education and rehabilitation professionals and professionals of related profiles to apply person-centred support planning for children / people with intellectual disabilities in education, but also in other systems that deal with this population.
