Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the knowledge and attitudes of students regarding teeth whitening, to examine the sources of information regarding teeth whitening as well as to determine which factors affect the decision making process of the implementation of teeth whitening. Study Design: The study is structured as cross-sectional. Participants and Methods: 165 students were included in this research. The research was conducted in June and July 2021. An anonymous online questionnaire was used for conducting this research. Results: The survey involved 165 participants. The majority of the participants is familiar with all the available methods of teeth whitening. The examinees showed good knowledge of teeth whitening with the exception of the fact that only healthy teeth can be whitened as well as the fact that teeth can be harmed in spite of the professional method. Most participants listed the Internet (Google, social media networks) as the main source of information regarding teeth whitening. The most important factor for most participants when deciding whether to implement teeth whitening or not is the success of the procedure. Statistically significant differences were found in the students' knowledge depending on their age and university education as well as in their attitudes depending on their age, the socioeconomic status and the university education. Conclusion: Based on the information provided by the participants willing to take part in the study, it can be concluded that the examinees have good knowledge of teeth whitening and that the attitudes are divided with a significant number of examinees expressing a desire to expand their knowledge of teeth whitening. It is essential for dentists to raise awareness of the availability of information in the dental office as well as to inform students about the methods, the ways of execution, the indications and the contraindications of teeth whitening in order to improve their comprehension and to avoid side effects of undertaking the teeth whitening process.
