AIM OF THE RESEARCH: The aim of the research is to examine the opinions of students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek on the elderly. TYPE OF STUDY: A cross-sectional survey was conducted. METHODS USED: The respondents were 122 students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek who voluntarily agreed to out in the Questionnaire on the opinion of students about the elderly. Questionnaire was available to them online on Google forms. RESULTS: The general data of the research shows that more respondents were female (61,47 %), aged 30 years and under (58,20 %), in graduate studies (53,28 %) and in the second year of graduate studies (36,07 %). The majority of respondents (52,46 %) had daily contact with elderly people within the family, and the majority (44,26 %) also had daily contact with elderly people outside their family. With regard to gender and age, no statistically significant differences were found. Undergraduate students expressed a significantly better opinion of elderly people by agreeing with more statements than graduate students. Through most of the statements, it is evident that the respondent´s opinion becomes more positive with the greater frequency of the respondent´s contacts with older people from their family and through living together in the same household. CONCLUSION: Although it has been proven that there is no statistically significant difference, undergraduate students express a more positive opinion about elderly people in more statements than graduate students. Also, respondents who have daily contact, and who live in the same household with an elderly person develop a better opinion of the elderly.
