Research aim: assessing the knowledge levels of nurses and technicians of the General Hospital Dr. Josip Benčević Slavonski Brod about epilepsy Respondents: nurses and technicians of the General Hospital Dr. Josip Benčević Slavonski Brod Methods: cross-sectional survey with a questionnaire modified for this research Results: The nurses and technicians showed a high level of knowledge on epileptic seizure recognition and first aid measures. There are differences in the perception of the heredity of epilepsy and knowledge of the symptoms, with men and people with higher education showing better understanding. Despite this, there are no significant differences in knowledge according to age or work experience, which indicates a generally good level of epilepsy awareness among the respondents. Conclusion: The nurses and technicians of the General Hospital Dr. Josip Benčević Slavonski Brod showed a high level of knowledge about epilepsy, given that the vast majority of respondents recognized an epileptic seizure and correctly indicated the first aid measures. Respondents also showed a positive attitude towards people with epilepsy, supporting their ability to start a family and not seeing the need for them to attend special schools. However, the differences in knowledge about symptoms, heredity and diagnostic methods were observed according to sex, education level and work experience, which indicates the need for further education and the standardization of knowledge in these areas.
