The paper provides an overvieM’ ofpreventive interventions of behavioral problems in primary schools in a sustainable and concise manner. Although it has been the least scientifically researched in the area ofprevention, experts agree that prevention shoidd be implemented right from the initial grades of primary school. Behavioral problems are defined as deviant behaviors and actions that deviate fi'om the expected behaviors characteristic of a social group. What cause deviation in a child is a characteristic situation that is found in the child (psycho physiological traits, temperament, nature), or in which is beyond him (family problems, school, peers, community). These factors that act as "triggers" for behavioral problems are called risk factors. There are also some positive things that prevent the development of the disorder, but also profound of pre-existing situations, which are called protective factors. As both factors are located in the environment of the child, it is important that prevention, or the suppression of unwanted deviations and their negative consequences, is carried out in all spheres of the child's life - in the family, at school, in the community. After a theoretical review, defining behavioral problems, risk and protective factors, and prevention, paper gives insight into different models of prevention. Special emphasis is placed on various preventive interventions and examples of programs, both in the world and in the Republic of Croatia. It also highlights the importance of evaluating preventive interventions as well as monitoring children who have gone through the programs in the future.
