In the 21st century there is an increase in the rate of inclusion of information and communication technology into all schools. Information and communication technology can certainly be a great support to teachers in realization of teaching. Also, the need for training digitally literate students has become obvious. In accord with these needs, an educational reform has been implemented in Croatia as well. And so, regarding the subject of Informatics, a great movement towards is that the subject of Informatics is introduced as a facultative subject from the first grade of primary school. In the last few years, we can also see how the form of teaching is trying to be modernised even more, and new ways and methods are being sought to fulfill today's student needs. Taking that into consideration, some see new solution for teaching in blended learning. This paper explains the theoretical settings of blended learning and the possibilities it provides for the forming of teaching. Furthermore, in this paper, we conducted a research on the application of blended learning in the subject of Informatics in the second grade of primary school. Relying on the theoretical basis of blended learning, an empirical study was conducted on one experimental group. The research was conducted with second grade students, and the obtained results indicated a positive attitude of students towards blended learning, thus confirming that blended learning contributes to the acquisition of knowledge, while the importance and role of teachers is certainly not diminished.
