Digital media gave people access to a large amount of information at any moment. Media and information and communication technology became the important part of human’s life and also of the educational process. Their goal is to improve learning and teaching process. Traditional approach to education does not meet the needs, interests and capabilities of every student. The student is an individual that is capable of creating their own knowledge, but in order to do that it is necessary to provide him appropriate conditions. Educational technology, that is being included in teaching process, needs to be based on constructivistic approach that demands holistic development of every person. It encourages creativity, activity, independence and cooperation of students in class. In this approach the student becomes more important and he is in the center of the whole process. In modern education teacher’s role has also changed. He now encourages student to use all of his capabilities. With help of digital media he prepares classes that meets the student’s needs and he uses different types od teaching and e-learning. In the concept of e-learning the student is being encouraged to be independent in their work with educational technology and motivated to work. Interaction and cooperation between students and teachers is necessary for making positive and pleasant atmosphere in which educational goals can be realized. For this purpose it is also necessary to know how to recognize the advantages and disadvantages that educaional technology offers. Accordingly, it is necessary to gain digital competence and development of every other skill that is required for achieving the set goals.
