Sažetak | Tema bolesti i tijela postaje predmet brojnih književnih djela od 19. stoljeća, a u
potpunosti se afirmira u razdoblju postmodernizma. U hrvatskoj književnosti velik doprinos
širenju nekadašnjih tabu tema dali su Vladan Desnica i Slavenka Drakulić svojim romanima
Proljeća Ivana Galeba i Hologrami straha.
liječenje, Drakulić kroz riječi svoje junakinje iznosi podrobne detalje o bubrežnoj bolesti i
njezinom prevladavanju. Kroz proces prevladavanja teške bolesti, pripovjedačica spoznaje svoje
najbliže potrebe te se rješava najvećih strahova. Desnica i Drakulić u svojim romanima obrađuju
glavnih likova, retrospektivno vraćanje u prošlost, povezivanje prošlosti i sadašnjosti, citatnost,
upotrebu ispovjednog monologa itd.
Sažetak (engleski) | Since the 19th century, topic of disease and body becomes the subject of numerous
literary works, and it is fully affirmed in the period of postmodernism. In Croatian literature, a
great contribution to the spread of once forbidden topics have made by Vladan Desnica and
Slavenka Drakulić, who wrote novels Springs of Ivan Galeb and Holograms of fear. In Desnica's
novel, we follow the fate of the violinist Ivan Galeb, who found himself in hospital due to a
combination of unfortunate circumstances. In the hospital, he thinks about his childhood, life,
death, art, philosophy, literature, loneliness etc. The main character wrote unusual hospital diary
in which events from the past are mixed with scanty details from the present. Unlike Desnica,
who skimps on details related to Galeb's illness and treatment, through the words of his heroine
Drakulić gives much details about kidney disease and its overcoming. Through the process of
overcoming a serious illness, the narrator realizes her immediate needs and gets rid of her
greatest fears. In their novels, Desnica and Drakulić deal with the topic of illness for the point of
view of modernist men's writing and postmodernist women's writing, stopping at current topics
of the period in which they wrote. The common features of their novels relate to the abolition of
the classical plot and the chronological sequence of events, the entry into the psyche of the
heroes, retrospective return to the past, connecting the past and the present, citation, use of
confessional monologue etc. Although we notice a number of similarities in the cases of the main
characters, there are also a number of differences that relate to type and prevalence of the
disesase, attitudes about death, the role of medicine in treating their diseases, the attitude towards
loneliness, existentialist and feminist themes...On this basis we can conclude that male and
female prose are linked by certain similarities but they are still different due to specific choice of
themes, motives and ideas. There is no doubt that the authors of these novels opened new paths
in literature with an unusual choice of topics. Also, they removed previous stereotypes related to
the disease. Their novels are testimonies of lives marked by pain, suffering and fear. However,
they restore faith and hope in a postive outcome of all life challenges. |
