A picture book is the first book the child is encountering with. With its content it offers to children various knowledge and information from their own environment, but it also stimulates and develops imagination. The first picture book in the world is „Orbis sensualim pictus“ by Jan Komenski in 17th century, in Croatia it is the picture book called „Domestic Animals“ by Dragutin Albrecht and it's origis are from the year 1885. The „Child's Health Book“ by Vladimir Kirin is considered the best illustrated piece from the year 1927. The picture book has changed throughout history, but their culmination is experienced throughout the 20th and 21st century. Combining the text and sound, the picture book gets a whole new meaning. The style and function remain the same as in the picture book itself, but with the music it takes the children into a new dimension and it gives them a new understanding of the environment in which they already are. Each picture book is not of quality to what it offers. If we apply new ways of reading and interpreting, a picture book will give children new opportunity to express their creativity. Growing up with a picture book, the child develops speech, reading and writing tehniques. If we include the music along with the picture book, the child will develop hearing and movement, and it will gain a whole new experience. With a picture book I gave the children an incentive for the activity's. Painting their experience of spring as they saw it through the music and illustrations, and by making their own music through succulents, they expressed their music experience of Autumn. Every child expresses their creativity in him in a special and individual way, so we can say that the picture book is the window that leads to the world of children's imagination that we adults can never understood.
