Attitudes towards death are an evaluative and relatively stable internal psychological tendency. Depending on the way a person experiences death, attitudes towards death are divided into five dimensions; fear of death, avoidance of thinking about death, escape from death, neutral acceptance and acceptance approach. Intolerance of uncertainty as a measure of personality captures a general inability to cope with uncertainty. One of the situations that brought a great degree of uncertainty throughout the world was the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of this research was to examine interrelationship among dimensions of attitudes toward death, symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress, intolerance of uncertainty, and concerns about COVID-19. 474 participants (80.6% women) between the ages of 18 and 79 took part in the survey. Psychodiagnostic instruments were used to examine attitudes towards death, the level of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress, the level of intolerance to uncertainty and concerns about COVID-19. People who have a greater fear of death have more pronounced symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress, and the same relationship was found in people who have a more pronounced attitude of escaping death. On the other hand, people who have a more pronounced approach to acceptance report less pronounced symptoms of depression and stress. Intolerance of uncertainty mediates the relationship between fear of death and depressive and anxiety symptoms and partially mediates the relationship between fear of death and concerns about COVID-19.
