Since its inception in 2010, when the City library and County Library in Pécs were united as part of the Pécs - European Capital of Culture 2010 project, the Csorba Győző Library has been strongly starting its work in new, expanded building stretching over four floors. Thanks to the good foundations on which it was founded, it took on the important role of the central library in the Baranya county, the operator of the second oldest bibliobus service in Hungary, the organizer of state-recognized cultural events, as well as the promoter of knowledge and love of reading. With its considerable local history collection and music collection, it serves as a place to protect valuable material, as well as as a source for many scientific and academic works. The library's activity extends to a total of 10 locations, which means that fun and educational activities can be found all over Pécs throughout the year. With ingenious reading encouragement programs, the Library attracts more and more children year after year, and their parents can expect hand-picked, self-published materials which contain a quality selection of books and other media they can use to prepare their children for their reading journey. With the recent organization of the literary festival PécsLIT, which provides colorful literary programs at several locations, as well as the good response of the audience, the organizational activity of the library has been recognized at the national level. In the New activities are coming to life, cooperation with users in the context of researching interest in programs and improving library services is developing, and after a static period of the coronavirus pandemic, the Library is slowly restoring its old attendance figures. Statistical indicators and a strategic plan for the future show that the citizens of Pecs will continue to have a high-quality, resourceful and highly efficient center of culture and knowledge – the Csorba Győző Library.
