Zvonimir Balog left a lasting impression on croatian children's literature but he is also known as an author of collections of poems for adults. Puns and nonsense are the fundaments of Balog's poetry. The main goal of this master's thesis is to describe the charasteristics of the poetic style of Zvonimir Balog and how they affect the perception of the recipient of the affective message. For the purposes of the analysis, three speech performances were recorded of a Balog's poem 'Pauk' from the collection of poems 'Preporučena ptica' and in each performance the use of prosodic features: rhythm, tempo, pauses and intonation was analyzed. The basic acoustic and perceptual analysis were thus performed on a sample of thirty-seven students of graduate study of phonetics on Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb who solved the questionnaire after listening to the performances. The questionnaire consisted of an assessment of the six categories of each performance (vocal, expressiveness, clarity, standardization, adequacy of speech tempo and entirely impression) which the examinees rated with grades from 1 to 5. Performance 1 was rated the highest in all six categories and it was proven that pitch, tone of voice and standard speech were the most influential in forming the overall impression rating. From the morphostylistic and semantic side, the poem is abundant with Balog's neologisms, the so-called 'balogisms,' and stylistic figures such as etymological figures, paregmenon, paronomasia, etc. and the types of words are dominated by nouns that replace verb actions. From the syntactostylistic side of the poem, there is a complete lack of punctuation, so it can be concluded that the graphic form of the poem caused its sound and speech organization. Balog is a writer known for his playing with words which are especially shown in the collection of poems 'Preporučena ptica' and in his poem 'Pauk'.
