One of the biggest challenges in translation and the selection of appropriate language equivalents lies in the use of professional terminology. General monolingual and bilingual dictionaries generally do not include a lexicon of professional fields, or they include it in an insufficient amount that often does not meet the needs of translating texts from specialized fields. This issue is even more emphasized in the case of translating minor world languages. The aim of this thesis is to create a bilingual glossary containing the most commonly used architectural terminology in the field of classical architecture, as the most prolific stylistic period whose design language was widely used as a role model and inspiration in later centuries. Hungarian was chosen as the source language, while the target language is Croatian. The thesis consists of two larger units. The first unit briefly describes the theoretical basis of glossary making, i.e. lexicographic and terminological principles. The second unit presents the process of making a glossary: the materials from which the terms were taken are listed, the criteria by which they were selected are explained and the construction of the glossary itself is described. Furthermore, the main challenges in compiling this terminological bilingual work are listed, such as the issue of language equivalence and the case of synonymy, supported by examples. An attempt was also offered to conceptually organize the glossary based on a smaller number of terms taken from the glossary corpus.
