The goal of this thesis is to provide an answer to the research, which is artistic question: does Picasso's The goal of this thesis is to provide an answer to the research question: does Picasso's works influence the understanding and realization of coloristic modulation in the Primary School Art Education? In order to find an answer to this question, the theory of the third grade children developmental stage was studied together with the literature dealing with art elements and research was conducted. The topic of color modulation in new Curriculum is dealt with in the 7th grade of primary school and follows the theory of Grgurić and Jakubin according to which third grade children are not developed enough to present volume on the surface through color modulation in their artwork. Therefore, this research question was intended to research this theoretical basis. The paper deals with the theory of colors, how we see them, and with their categorization as well as with the theory of volume on the surface, that is the ways in which three-dimensionality is achieved by color modulation. The biography and works of Pablo Picasso, whose works were used for research and analysis of children's art works, are briefly described. The empirical part analyzes the childrens art work collected by research conducted at the Elementary School "Mladost" in Osijek. The aim of this study was to examine whether Picasso’s works would influence the comprehension and understanding of coloristic modulation in primary school children. The research sample consisted of 42 students whose task was to create a self-portrait based on analysis of Picasso's works during motivation. After the classes of Art Culture, an analysis of the collected student art works was conducted. The analysis of the childrens art work partially confirmed the influence of Picasso's works on the understanding and comprehension of coloristic modulation. The result of this research, although conducted on a small sample, indicated that appropriate motivation with an emphasis on the processing of quality works of art affects the perception and realization of color modulation in respondents.
