Sažetak (engleski) Introduction: Soccer belongs to the group of complex polystructural acyclic activities, played by two teams of 11 players each. It is one of the most demanding sports due to playing on a large field and quite long matches (90 minutes). The complexity of the soccer game is also influenced by the manipulation of the ball performed with the foot. Manipulating the ball with the foot is more difficult compared to sports where the manipulation is done with the hand. Football has the greatest popularity among children, but also among the population in general, and this should be used in the development and health of children. One of the positive effects of football is the development of flexibility. Flexibility is an elementary prerequisite for good qualitative and quantitative execution of movements. A combination of good motor skills, anthropological features and flexibility itself is needed to perform movements with maximum amplitude, in one or more joints, one or more times.
Aim: The main objective of this final paper is to describe the role and importance of stretching for the maintenance and progression of physiological range of motion in children training for soccer. By introducing flexibility exercises into the training program 3 times in week, the progress of the overall performance of movements in children will be monitored. It will also determine whether flexibility differs by age.
Subjects and methods: The subjects who participated in the research are children who train football in the football club Goranka from Ravna Gora. The sample consists of 30 respondents. The data was collected from the data archive club with a written confirmation of consent for the use of the data.
Results: The results showed that there was no improvement in the degree of flexibility in children who train football in the Goranka football club in a period of one month. The subjects performed stretching exercises after each training session. The most commonly used stretching technique is differential stretching, which was also conducted in research.
Conclusion: With this research we can conclude that stretching exercises are essential for the development of flexibility, but it is necessary to perform them for a certain period of time and to be constant in this. With this research, we want to encourage children who train soccer and children in general to learn exercises correctly and to perform these same exercises.
