Background: Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer in women and the second leading cause of death of women. The most common consequence of breast cancer surgery is hands lymphedema. There are several ways of treating lymphedema such as manual lymph drainage, compressive bandaging or therapeutic exercise. The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of kinesiotape at the reduction in hands lymphedema after breast cancer surgery. Materials and Methods: The data subjects were members of the Women Club treated for breast cancer Gea, Pula. The study included 60 women who were divided into two groups, with 30 subjects in each group. All the respondents were measured three times; at the first day of therapy, after 10 treatments of manual lymph drainage, test group after 10 days of wearing kinesiotape and the control group after 10 days without any treatment. Results: The study was conducted on 60 female members of the Women Club treated for breast cancer Gea, Pula, average age 60.46 (39-81) years. 32 women (53.3%) have a right-sided hand involvement, while 28 women (46.7%) have a left-sided hand involvement in breast cancer. The maximum involvement of lymphedema in all subjects was observed at the level of 50 cm measured from the tip of the middle finger, an average of 3.49 cm. Mean reduction in scope respondents using kinesiotape is from 0.4 cm to 4.15 cm, while the control group has an increase of lymphedema for the 0.5 -2 cm or the scope remains unchanged. Conclusion: Although applying kinesiotape after manual lymphatic drainage were improved results in terms of reducing hands lymphedema of women, it is still very new, relatively unexplored method of treating lymphedema, which is necessary to describe in more detail and explore its properties and mode of action.
