Volleyball is a non-contact team sport with various dynamic elements such as direction changes, squats, jumps, landings combined with body rotations and upper extremity movements. The most common injuries in volleyball players are ankle distortions and anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Proprioception is considered to be important in injury prevention where proprioception exercises can reduce ankle and knee damage. The aim of this research is to analyze proprioceptive performance on a balance platform in volleyball players between the ages of 14 and 18. Two groups were tested - experimental and control group. The experimental group consisted of 18 female volleyball players who took part in proprioception trainings, while the control group consisted of 18 female volleyball players with no proprioception training. In addition to proprioception levels, injury frequency and variation in proprioceptive performance in volleyball players with previous ankle distortion injuries were also tested. The results of the research have shown a statistically significant difference in proprioceptive performance of volleyball players who took part in proprioception trainings. Players with ankle distortion injuries from the experimental group displayed statistically considerably more successful results on a balance platform in comparison to the players from the control group. Although statistically insignificant, there were also differences in injury frequency between the two groups.
