The final paper investigates the history of the use of wood as a building material and the application of prefabricated houses in the world and in Croatia. The systems of load-bearing panels and the system of load-bearing spatial units are presented as two possible variants of the installation of prefabricated wooden houses. The most commonly used materials for the production of the aforementioned systems are glued laminated wood and cross laminated wood. Drafts are attached to each system and material in order to better notice the difference, but also the specificity related to a particular construction. Thermal insulation, fast construction, earthquake resistance are just some of the advantages that characterize wooden prefabricated houses. In contrast to the diverse and numerous advantages, we have extremely few disadvantages. Durability that is shorter than brick houses is the biggest concern from the buyer's point of view. Through 13 points, the way of making a wooden prefabricated house is explained, from the idea to the final product. The distribution and diversity of the use of wood in construction are presented on three different examples.
