Over the last few years, environmental awareness has been growing in the world and efforts are being made to reduce environmental pollution in various ways, which is why biodegradable polymers are increasingly being used. It would be useful to find a material that will be environmentally friendly, apart from its quality. The aim of this thesis is to examine samples of materials that are environmentally friendly and to make a printing form from biodegradable materials that would be applicable to letterpress printing. The basic sample materials to be used are PLA (polylactic acid) and PCL (polycaprolactone). PLA is one of the most widespread used biodegradable polymers which is often used in medicine and is a growing polymer in the production of environmentally friendly packaging materials. PCL is a biodegradable polymer of synthetic origin. It is degradable in nature by bacteria and fungi, but it is not degradable within the human or animal body due to the lack of certain enzymes. Material samples will be prepared in the form of filaments for 3D printing. Three-dimensional printing technology is a quick and easy way to create different models, and in this thesis will be used to create a printing form for letterpress printing. In the first step, plates of certain dimensions will be made on which various measurements will be performed to determine their surface, structural and mechanical properties in order to characterize the appropriate material that would match the properties of printing forms used in letterpress printing.
