This thesis discusses the double exposure, photographic technique in which two or more different scenes overlap within the same photographic frame. The theoretical part describes the beginnings of the application of this technique throughout history, and its initial application in analogue photography until today, when it is often used in digital photography. In the experimental part three methods of obtaining double exposure were used. The first method uses analog camera Nikon FM2. In this method, it is important to stop winding the film after shooting the first frame (darker), so that the re-triggering (brighter frame) exposes the same part of the film. The second method uses a digital camera Nikon D5100 and its options multiple exposure and image overlay which can capture multiple exposures directly in the camera. Double exposure is obtained in a way that after shooting the first exposure, in a certain time period of re-opening the shutter, we change the frame. The third method shows the ability to obtain the same techniques in photo editing program Adobe Photoshop. The main aim is to present and compare the techniques of double exposure, starting from the beginning by making a double exposure in the analog camera, all the way to making a double exposure by selecting the option available in digital camera, and also processing the image in a program to achieve the same effect. The aim of this thesis is to get insight into the not so new, but progressively interesting technique used by today's photographers, to show its development through history and to encourage interest of displaying traditional motives in a different way.
