This overview-analitic work elaborates matter of social policy on european continent, with an accent on social policy of European Union and the process of europeanisation of national social systems. In first fraction it describes elementary terms and areas of social policy. Also, there will be some words about history of european thoughts on social policy. Next chapter specifies some theoretical scopes, in which every of them had their special modality of social systems in the area of Europe and beyond. Firstly, here belongs the wellknown and the most quoted typology of socio-political systems, one from danish sociologist Gosta Esping-Andersen. Furthermore, third section will describe developement of social policy in European Union, with all of its goals which were realized through various contracts, activities and programmes. It will as well elaborate one interesting phenomena – europeanisation of national socio-political regimes. Lastly, in final chapter, there is an overview of trends of social policy in the Republic of Croatia in context of particular historical circumstances, such as transition and, more common, europeanisation.
