Volleyball is a sport which consists of many different playing roles. Certain anthropometric characteristics are highly important for each of those playing roles, and even though we talk about the players who participate in the same sport, the differences can be significant. The main goal of this thesis is to determine the statistically significant difference in certain morphological characteristics between the players who play on different playing roles. The sample taken for this thesis consisted of 55 female volleyball players of Croatian Superliga league whose average age was 20,46 ± 3,23 years old, average body height 180,27 ± 7,04 cm, and average body weight of 70,89 ± 6,49 kgs. All the players have played in Croatian Superleague during the season 2018. /19. and have finished in top 4 places. All the players are on the official list of the Croatian senior volleyball team and all of them have right to perform in Croatian Superleague. Anthropometric measures were taken in the Diagnostic center at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb and other places secured by the clubs. The results of this research show that there are statistically significant differences in some of the variables examined from the players playing different playing roles. The players from the Libero playing role had the narrowest arm span (ALRR), leg length (ALDN), arm length (ALDR) and right palm length (ALDSA) in comparison with the players from other positions. That result is in accordance with Libero's playing assignments which do not require high longitudinal values as in other playing roles, especially in players whose main factor is playing on the net. The biggest differences were the ones in body height (ALVT). The playing role of Middle blocker had statistically significant higher values in body height in comparison with the all other playing roles except playing role of Opposite, while the role of Libero had statistically lower values in body height comparing to all the other playing roles except playing role of Setter. Practical implications of this scientific research are applicable in using given information for the selection at the young age and to support directing young players towards their specific playing roles.
