Air is a mixture of gases without color and odor, essential for the life of human, plants and animals. Thus for protection of human health and preservation of the environment, it is extremely important to control the quality of the air. This paper analyzes data indicating the state of air pollution in the Split-Dalmatia County (SDC) over a five-year period (2013-2017), based on the report publicly available on the website of the Croatian Environmental Information System. Among pollutants emission into the air, the highest reported amount is carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), reaching > 99% of the total amount of pollutant emissions. Other pollutants which emissions were recorded are CO, NO 2 , SO 2 , PM 10 particles, non-metallic volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) and in smaller quantities hydrofluorocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals (mercury and zinc). Data analysis of pollutants for the period 2013-2017 indicate a decrease in reported amounts of CO 2 , SO 2 and PM 10 in the air, while the amount of NO 2 fluctuates, and of CO have an upward trend. Quality of air in the region of Split-Dalmatia County was rated as Category I, except for the Split-Poljud station, which recorded worse results in 2013 and was rated as Category II. The Croatian Environmental Information System is a simple and practical tool that enables the continuous monitoring of the particular environmental components, such as air quality, and can serve as a valuable asistance in environmental decision making.
