A peripheral artery disease includes a wide spectrum of diseases in clinical practice that imply vascular pathology of arms and legs. The aim of this thesis is to review existing data on noninvasive diagnostic methods in peripheral artery disease. The thesis consists of few chapters in which the most important guidelines of each diagnostic methods used in the evaluation of patient are elaborated. The introductory chapter provides some general information on how to approach a patient with PDA and it also lists all types of noninvasive diagnostic methods used today. It`s then followed by an overview and development of a complete diagnostic procedure starting with taking patients medical history in first chapter. Furthermore, chapter two talks about the indications for each diagnostic method. Next three chapters talk about methods used within the physical examination of patients and which include different pressure measurements and calculation of pressure indexes. The following section talks about pulse volume recordings, stress test and transcutaneous oxygen tension measurements. The imaging diagnostic methods, which include Duplex ultrasound, MR-angiography and CT- angiography, are reviewed in the next chapters. Finally, the last chapter – the conclusion – summarizes key points of all previous chapters, pointing out latest discoveries regarding the diagnostic methods in peripheral artery disease.
