Aim: The aim is to assess the knowledge and opinions of registered nurses about patients who suffer from viral Hepatitis B and C. The aim of this research is to determine whether there is a difference between sex, age, lenhgt of service, qualifications, previous experince with care for patients who suffer from Hepatitis B and C,need for further aducation and personal protection. The draft of the study: The study was conducted as a cross-sectional. Examinees and Methods:The study included 68 registered nurses employeed in Clinical Hospital Centre in Osijek. These are examinees of both sexes,between ages of 22 and 62 years. A number of them has degree of Nursing College, but most of them have finished vocational school for nurses. For this study was used a individually designed questionnare which constisted of four open-ended questions,three closed questions and fourthteen statements which were evaluated on the Likert Scale from 1 to 5. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in the issue of HBV and HCV are the most common sexually and blood transmitted diseases (p = 0,037). Higher medians questions have the respondents who think that further education for work is required, that HBV and HCV are the most common blood and sexually transmitted diseases (p = 0.038) and the main mode of transmission of the virus through blood (p = 0.036), as if ill patients were stigmatized by health professionals and other people. When asked how the patients suffering from HBV and HCV should be isolated from other patients, statistically significant differences were found (p = 0.046), where a more positive attitude about ithave men compared to womenrespondendts. Statistically significant negative correlations were found with the age issue as HBV and HCV patients are stigmatized by health professionals and others (τ = -0.189, -0.219), as the patient himself is to blame for his illness (τ = -0188, -0191 ) and that it is necessary to warn other patients (τ = -0.272, -0.203). Conclusion: There are differences among the respondents concerning the allegations related to viral hepatitis B and C , as well as for patients suffering from the same disease according to the age, the need for additional education for work , and there not found differences concerning the method of personal protection .
