Objectives: The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of students about voluntary blood donation in the Republic of Croatia. Material and Methods: The subjects included in this research are students from the Universities of Split, Zagreb, Osijek and Rijeka. Student attitudes were surveyed using an anonymous online Google Forms survey. The hi-square test was used to compare categorical variables, while Speraman's correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between variables. The significance level was set at P ≤ 0.05. Results: 517 students participated in the research, of which 34.7 % were voluntary blood donors. Male students are more frequent blood donors than female students (P ≤ 0.001). 72.07 % of donors encouraged someone from their environment to donate, and a connection was established between regular blood donation and encouraging others to donate (R= 0.369, P ≤ 0.001). The most common reasons for not donating blood are ineligibility to donate (61 %) and fear (15 %). Conclusions: Students are excellent potential blood donors and they need to be further educated and motivated to donate. Organizing voluntary donations at colleges and student dormitories is an excellent example of how to make donating blood as accessible and simple as possible for students.
