Euroization represents the replacement of the country's national currency with a foreign currency, and it appears as a consequence of the instability of the economy, most often due to inflation and the unsuccessful implementation of the country's stabilization programs. We distinguish between three types of euroization: unofficial, semi-official and official. In unofficial euroization, the foreign currency is not recognized by law and is not used as a means of payment, but as a means of preserving value and units of measure, in semi-official euroization, foreign currency is recognized by law as a means of payment, but it plays a secondary role in contributing to the domestic currency, and in official euroization of euroization, foreign currency is the only legal means of payment and performs all the functions of money. Croatia is a highly euroized country whose currency is pegged to the euro. After two years of participation in ERM II, Croatia has met the convergence conditions and becomes an officially euroized country, and the euro will be introduced on January 1, 2023.
