Wellness tourism includes a large number of tourists who are ready to leave their place of residence and go to tourist destinations, giving priority to physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing that can be achieved by consuming wellness services. Wellness services are provided in wellness centers that can be part of hotel facilities or independent centers focused on individual well-being. Most wellness services in the Republic of Croatia are provided in wellness centers that are part of the hotel offer. In this way, hotel facilities try to expand the offer of their services, differentiate themselves on the market, and increase the profitability of their business. The role of wellness services in the overall hotel business was also supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which prescribed the criteria that a hotel must meet to achieve the special WELLNESS standard. The wellness offer in Split-Dalmatia County is less than the potential that the county has for the development of wellness tourism. The base consists of hotels with year-round operations that offer their guests additional wellness services. Still, for a more serious development of wellness tourism, it is necessary to consider the possibility of building a specialized wellness center, which would provide wellness services following world wellness trends not only to tourists but also to the local population. In order to achieve this, the cooperation of all stakeholders in the destination is needed, who would jointly develop an offer of wellness services that will satisfy all segments of tourists interested in wellness services, which will have a positive impact on the development of sustainable tourism in the SplitDalmatia County.
