Well-time introduction of appropriate complementary foods is essential for adequate nutritional supply for development of children, however, different cultural and socio-economic factors can affect compliance with recommendations concerning time, the type and quantity of foods offered. The aim of this research was to see which are the prefered foods in complementary feeding, what is the applied sequence of introducing them and the age they are being introduced at, is it according to the dietary recommendations and investigate the possibility of age and education of the mother as a factor. This research included 59 test subjects, 28 boys and 31 girls aged 3 months to 2 years. The survey collected information both regarding the mother and the child. The results showed that 52% of the mothers started complementary feeding at age of 5 months old, and 27 % at 6 months. The first introduced firm food was apple (27,1%). Biggest deviation from the results is noticed when it comes to cereal and freshly pressed juice, which have been introduced later than what is recommended. When comparing the relevance of mothers age and education, there was no significant statistical difference, apart from comparing the age of the mother and the time of introducing complementary feeding, where there is a 5% significance statistical difference (F=4,82; p< 0,05). It's necessary to conduct broader research which would include reprezentativan sample with a larger number of test subject to confirm the results of this preliminary study.
