Sažetak | S obzirom da vaterpolisti gube manje vode nego sportaši na suhome, unos tekućine tijekom natjecanja nije ključan za postizanje rezultata. Međutim, euhidracija tijekom dana ostaje važan cilj čije se (ne)postizanje može odraziti na izvedbu te kvalitetu treniranja na suhom. Budući da u literaturi postoji svega nekoliko radova na temu hidracije kod vaterpolista, a niti jedan kod vaterpolistica, cilj ovog rada bio je odrediti stupanj hidracije kod profesionalnih vaterpolista (n=18) i vaterpolistica (n=11) dobi 15-33 godina te usporediti rezultate s kontrolnom skupinom. Također, procijenjen je i prosječan unos kofeina, jednog od nekolicine dokazano djelotvornih ergogenih sredstava. Podaci o unosu i gubicima vode prikupljeni su putem upitnika o ravnoteži vode (Int. J. Food. Sci. Nutr., 63, 138) te 3-dnevnog dnevnika prehrane. Ravnoteža vode (unos minus gubici) procijenjena putem upitnika značajno se razlikovala od ravnoteže procijenjene dnevnikom (+132,1±1390,05 naspram -844,1±1562,89 mL, p<0,05). Prosječan unos kofeina nije se značajno razlikovao između vaterpolista i kontrolnih skupina te je iznosio 79,7-175,8 mg odnosno 1,1-1,9 mg/kg tjelesne mase, raspoređen tijekom dana. Za usporedbu, ergogeni učinak kofeina vidljiv je kod jednokratnog unosa od 70-200 mg, odnosno 1-3 mg/kg TM. |
Sažetak (engleski) | Since water polo players lose less water than non-aquatic athletes, their fluid intake during competition is not essential for performance. However, daily euhydration remains fundamental goal, for its achievement or lack thereof, could impact performance and land-based training. Considering there are only a few papers dealing with water polo players hydration, none of them with female subjects, aim of this work was to determine hydration status among elite male (n=18) and female (n=11) water polo players age 15-33 and compare results with controls. Average caffeine intake, compound with well documented ergogenic effects, was also examined. Water intake and loss data was collected using Water balance questionnaire (Int J Food Sci Nutr., 63, 138) and 3-days food records. Water balance (intake minus losses) estimated using the questionnaire was significantly different than balance estimated by food records (+132.1±1390.05 vs. 844.1±1562.89 mL, p<0.05). No difference was found in average caffeine intake between water polo players and controls (79.7-175.8 mg; 1.1-1.9 mg/kg). For comparison, an ergogenic effects of caffeine occurs at single dose of 70-200 mg, or 1-3 mg/kg. |
