Sažetak (engleski) | In this research, the influence of the cultivation method, i.e., production of okra in the open field vs. greenhouse, on some morphological growth and development parameters as well as certain yield components was determined. Two local ecotypes of okra from Slavonia and Baranja (Čepinska zelena and Baranjska bamija) were used in the research. Okra transplants were produced in a greenhouse, after which they were planted in a greenhouse or an open field. The experiment was set up according to a randomized block design with 4 replications. During the experiment, plant height, number of fruits, fruit length, leaf petiole length, leaf width, number and weight of seeds per fruit and total seed yield per plant were examined. After statistical analysis of the obtained results, it was determined that greenhouse growing significantly increases the height of plants, number of fruits per plant, number of leaves, length of leaf petiole, leaf width, fruit length, fruit number and the total seed yield in both okra ecotypes. The seed weight per fruit was not significantly influenced by growing conditions. With regard to the number of seeds per fruit, it was found to be a variety-dependent property, and in Čepinska zelena, a significantly higher number of seeds per fruit was found in plants grown in the open field, while in the Baranjska bamija ecotype, growing conditions did not significantly affect this parameter. According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that greenhouse growing of okra ensures a better growth of the plants and, ultimately, higher yields of fruit and seeds are achieved. It should be emphasized that certain properties were significantly dependent on the variety, i.e., ecotype of okra, and further research with a larger number of different varieties or ecotypes of okra is recommended in order to determine the optimal method of cultivation for a particular variety, as well as for testing the nutritional quality of the fruits of plants grown in different conditions. |
