Geotourism hiking is a new tourist product, and it represents a combination of geotourism and hiking. One of the peculiarities of geotourism is that it can be networked with different recreational-tourist activities. The most common problem that arises during this connection is the lack of interpretation, which is its main feature. Mountaineering is a form of recreational-tourism activity that consists of hiking in the mountains to achieve personal satisfaction. While hiking, mountaineers encounter different relief forms and phenomena in the mountains, but they do not recognize them or do not know how to interpret them. Therefore, this new tourist product would satisfy the needs of mountaineers and geotourists. Through interpretation, hikers would achieve education about the space they are moving through, and geotourists would achieve one of the healthiest forms of recreation. This paper deals with the design of a geotourism hiking trail with interpretation boards and tries to connect geotourism and hiking based on their common points. The theme of the interpretation is the karst relief in the area of Dabarski kukovi on the middle Velebit Mt., which represents one of the most famous hiking destinations in Croatia.
