The paper presents the attitudes of adult citizens of the Republic of Croatia on corporal punishment of children in the family. The purpose of the research is primarily to contribute to a greater understanding of the topic, and based on greater understanding we will be able to work on preventing and stopping corporal punishment of children. The aim of the research is to examine attitudes about corporal punishment of children in the family of adult citizens of the Republic of Croatia with regard to family structure, knowledge of legal provisions, from the perspective of persons without parental status and those who have achieved the role of parents and analyze gender differences. An appropriate sample was used and the data were collected through an online survey completed by 200 survey participants, which they could access via the social network Facebook. The results of the research show that parents are still uninformed about the legal prohibition of corporal punishment of children, 63.5% of participants believe that it is prohibited, 11% that it is not prohibited, and 25.5% do not know the answer to the questionThe results also showed that there is a statistically significant difference in attitudes towards corporal punishment of children by gender, but no difference was found between persons who are parents and those who are not, in family structure, and in knowledge of legal provisions.
