This paper presents analysis of the state of migrants' rights with a special focus on the events and impacts of the migration crisis of 2015, as well as the crises that preceded it. The focus of this paper is on the rights of migrants, on their protection, as well as on the role of social work itself as a profession that protects and follows the principles of human rights and whose work requires a reaction in crisis situations such as the migrant crisis. The main goal of this work is to present the rights that are guaranteed to migrants and to analyse failure to fulfil the duties that states have towards migrants. This is also highlighted through the role of social work as a profession that uses services from the system to protect human rights of all people, including migrant rights. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to present current situations so that the clear picture of the state of migrants’ rights can be openly presented, to show a need for better and wider integration of migrants and to also present the role of social work in the area of exercising the rights of migrants. According to the facts from the literature and the law, this work will present the theoretical framework of migrants' rights, as well as the legal framework that guarantees these rights. The work aims to provide a complete and realistic picture of the state of migrants' rights in Europe and the Republic of Croatia.
