Even though, looking a few years back, we can definitely see some positive changes when it comes to equalisation of the opportunities of men and women in the Republic of Croatia, significant differences can still be seen in some areas of life. This final paper will analyse and present this ongoing issue. The intorduction of this final thesis will present the most important terms and definitons regarding the gender equality and the central part will be focused on analysing the legal framework, regulations and ways of how they govern gender equality. Subsequently, a more detalied explanation of how the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, most important international documents, laws from the Croatian legislation and the National plan for gender equality govern and regulate this topic will be given in this part of the thesis. Furthermore, there will be an explanation of the institutional mechanisms such as state, county and local relevant institutions and the gender equality ombudsman. The final part of this paper will present and explain the challenges of realisation of gender equality in the Republic of Croatia, the ways in which women are still discriminated in the labour market, differences in estimatad salaries for men and women and the political participation of women. At the very end there will be a conclusion which will present a kind of a culmination and a display of all of the important informations from this final thesis.
