The Law on archive material and archives it is laid down that the archival material of interest to the Republic of Croatia and that has its special protection. Archival material selection is a documentary material that has lasting value for the culture, history, science, or other activities, for the protection and for realize the rights and interests of individuals and the community, which shall be permanently kept. As resulted of many years of observation archival profession, at now, the basic task of the archivists is select and secretion of documentary and archival material. The first reason is the huge increase employees and public services, and in accordance with this, the appearance of large quantities of archival material. However, for excreted properly of material, it is necessary to perform certain actions based on the regulation on the evaluation and selection process and the secretion of archival. These Regulations stipulate the ways of establishes the criteria of evaluation of archival, categorization of creators, the elaboration of a list of archival material with deadlines for storage, the process of selecting and excretion, and a way of destroying the excretion archives.
