Children make a big part of the world's population, children are the future and in order to protect them as fragile individuals there is a large number of documents which ensure children's rights and protect them. Children's rights are not respected equally in all the countries of the world, in other words, the realisation of children's rights in some parts of the world and the areas covered by the European Union are defined by the place of birth, ethical or religious believes, gender and series of such elements that influence the possibility of children's rights realisation greatly. Children's rights which should be equal for all the children can not be realised in the same way, equally because of the different circumstances in which children were born and raised. Breaking and endangering children's rights lead to various repercussions such as different forms of violence, trafficking in children, children's deaths, prostitution, forced labour. Although, there are many various documents which protect and promote the right of a child, we still witness everyday endangering of children's rights that indicate the fact we should constantly work on issues to provide each child the maximum realisation of their rights in the best possible way. The aim of this work was to present the development of children's rights, compliance of the children's rights in Republic of Croatia, the problems that children face when trying to realise their rights. The results of a questionnaire made with the children aged from thirteen to seventeen are shown in this work. The aim of this poll was to show how familiar are they with basic terms related to the children's rights and rights which belong to them as children, as well, considering the existence of diverse human rights documents and children's rights, too.
