The subject matter researched in this thesis is an application for admission of revision as an epicentre of the revision procedure which initiates revision. In that regard, an analysis is initially done of the definition of the term 'revision upon admission' of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia. It is followed by the legal features of the regulation of revision and its function. The paper further analyses an application for admission of revision as the main topic of the thesis. In relation to the application for admission of revision, the thesis explores: separation of an application for admission of revision and revision itself, justification of separation of decision and merits of revision, how to draft an application for revision and who is entitled to submit it. The paper thoroughly examines the importance of the legal matter as a criterion for admissibility of revision and the issue of submission of an application for admission of revision with the court of the first instance. Supported by examples from court practice, it states which decisions the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia is authorised to bring upon an application for admission of revision and in which way it justifies its decisions. With a view to the subject matter of this thesis, the paper analyses the issue of simultaneous submission of an application for admission of revision and the constitutional complaint as well as the constitutional complaint against the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia on inadmissibility of revision. In conclusion, the analysis of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Civil Procedure, with a short overview of the amendments proposed, demonstrates legislator's conceptual solutions for enhancement of the institute of revision upon admission.
