The main goal of the paper is to present the commercial sales contract as one of the most common and, consequently, the most important contracts in economic life. It is important to make a distinction between commercial sales contracts and civil and consumer sales contracts. In this context, commercial sales contracts are characterized by a requirement for increased attention from traders when performing activities that are the subject of their business, which results in stricter rules, as well as shorter deadlines compared to civil and consumer contracts. An analysis of contract characteristics, legal sources, subjects and objects of the contract was undertaken. The fundamental internal legal source for commercial sales contracts in the Republic of Croatia is the Civil Obligations Act, which regulates the subject matter in detail, especially the rights and obligations of the contracting parties. The Act prescribes 6 types of sales with regard to their particularities.
