The judicial authority of the Republic of Croatia represents one of the three branches of government in the country, alongside the executive and legislative branches. The judicial authority is tasked with the application of laws, making decisions in legal disputes, and ensuring justice in society. The judicial authority in the Republic of Croatia is organized into three levels: the Municipal Court, County Court, and Su1preme Court. Municipal courts have jurisdiction over smaller civil and criminal cases, while County courts have jurisdiction over more complex cases and appeals against decisions of Municipal courts. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the country and is responsible for making final decisions in judicial cases, ensuring legal uniformity and the rule of law. Each of the courts exercising judicial authority in the Republic of Croatia will be further analyzed in the following work. Judges serving in the courts of the Republic of Croatia have their independence and impartiality guaranteed by the Constitution, laws, and international agreements. The appointment of judges is carried out through a process involving the State Judicial Council and the President of the Republic. Judges are obligated to make decisions based on the law, impartially and objectively, without any external influence. In addition to the national judicial authority, I will also touch upon the European Court of Human Rights as an international body whose jurisdiction involves deciding on individual or international applications related to the violation of civil and political rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
