The final thesis elaborates are the performance of steering gear with emphasis on the rotary vane steering gear. In the first part, parts of the ship are shown for better understanding. In the following text, hydraulics are defined and the basic hydraulic schemes are presented, which describes the principle on which hydraulic steering devices work. Also, the basic concepts of steering gear are presented and the developmental stages of steering are described.In addition, the mane types of rudders with their advantages and disadvantages are described. The simplest and modern way of steering are presented and described. Furthermore, the manner of steering machine control, elements of steering gear such as rudder and pump are described and analyzed to the last detail. Pumps are one of the most important parts of steering gear because without them it would be impossible to bring oil into the machine itself. The calculation of rotary vane steering gear have been analyzed and the necessary dimensions of the machine are obtained. The obtained calculation values were used for the assembly drawing of the machine and assembly drawing of the machine is attached to this paper. The regulations of the classification societies and state institutions emphasize the safety and working measures that the steering machines have to fill up.
