Slider-crank mechanism is considered every mechanism which consists of a slider, crank, and a connecting rod. Depending on type of usage there can be different versions of this mechanism. The slider moves between top and bottom dead centre, two points which are considered optimal points of the mechanism and the motion which occurs is considered oscillatory and it can be seen from the formulas and kinematic charts. Theoretically, when there is no interruption, a stroke can be defined as the maximum distance that the slider has passed from TDC to BDC and afterwards when it returns to TDC it is said that the crankshaft has made one revolution. For understanding of this mechanism, it is required to have fundamental knowledge in the field of mechanics and mathematics, especially the branch of mathematics called trigonometry as most of the time the given parameters are angles. The application of this mechanism is present the most in car industry, to be precise in vehicles which use fuel as their main energy source. In engines, the slider-crank mechanism parts are piston, connecting rod and the crankshaft and in that way, they are achieving work. Other use of this mechanism is present in the reciprocating compressor, which is used to pressurize the gases, and is considered the fundamental part of pneumatic systems, which are also explained in this project. Finally, using software called Inventor, a sophisticated model of this mechanism has been made following the dimensions and instructions given by the professor and the final part of this project was to determine velocity, acceleration, power and torque for 100-6000 rpm range.
