The paper is based on the synergy of the theoretical concept of operation of a CNC laser cutting machine and a CAD CAM softwre. For a complete understanding of the laser cutting process, the principle of laser beam formation and operation of the laser as a device is explained. Materials compatible for the laser cutting process using a CNC machine are described. The essence of working in a software based on the control of CNC laser cutting machines is presented. After explaining meaning of computer numerical control, the principle of laser operation is presented in the introductory part. The types used for cutting are listed. The parameters of the relevant lasers and their advantages and disadvantages are explained. The materials that can be processed by the laser cutting process are listed, and their behavior when interacting with various types of lasers is shown. The concept of a CNC machine whose purpose is to cut sheet materials using a laser beam is explained. By the definition of computer aided manufacturing, a software named cncKad was introduced. The purpose of this paper is to present the process of laser cutting using a CNC machine, to explain the materials that are compatible with this procedure and to connect everything with the role of a software. The parameters of the mentioned program present the principle of operation of a CNC machine for laser cutting and the interaction of materials with laser beam. By the explanation of the parameters of the cncKad tool, computer aided manufacturing potentials are shown. The path from the computer model to the final product is shown through the key processing steps in the program. At the end of the paper, the process of preparing a report is presented, which can provide information on the cost-effectiveness of the process.
