The survey of literature shows there were many different methods of treating large lower jaw cysts and that new possibilities are constantly devised and researched, and they have not been exhausted today either. The basic problems for which efforts were made to solve them by surgical methods were post-surgery recurrence cases, particularly in developmental odontogenic cysts, which are called odontogenic keratocysts or primordial cysts in present classifications, followed by problems of vaccination of large bone cavities, which were most often compromised by an infection of blood clots. The implementation of chemical means or low temperature, by which eventual remains of the capsule were to be destroyed, are medically unfounded because it is not possible to determine the depth of their action precisely and they involve the risk of complications. Rinsig of the bone defect with 3% hydrogen peroxide, for the purpose of perceiving and removing eventual remains of the capsule, is allowed. As for healing of a large bone defects after enucleation of jaw cysts, it is not important which method to apply, but it is certain that the method of marsupialization is no longer an everyday method, but is applied only exceptionally in patients with compromised health, in order that they would not be exposed to the risk of an intervention with general aesthesia. All the methods which primarily close the bone cavity, and which endeavour to reduce the dead space and prevent the infection of a blood clot, are good.
