Information and communication technologies need to be included in teaching because it is not our future, it is our present. Students should be introduced into the digital world step by step and we need to help them to manage with all the information that the world is giving them, so they could be able to know which of them are good and which bad information are. The only thing that is important is that the ICT becomes a part of our and their everyday life, so we could prepare them for the future life surrounded by technologies, and the way on how it's going to be presented to the pupils is not important. But first, educators need to be educated about using the ICT so they could teach pupils. The aim of this research was to investigate how much the ICT teachers are familiar with information and communication technology, how often are they using it in their work and where did they acquired their digital competences. 53 ICT teachers from three areas (City of Zagreb, Zagreb and Karlovac County) participated in this research. The results showed that the smallest part of their competences were acquired at the university and the biggest part of their knowledge was acquired by attending courses, workshops and seminars. Also, according to the results it is apparent that the ICT positively effects on teachers, helps them to express themselves creatively and is an indispensable part of lifelong learning.
