The main idea of the following thesis is to emphasize the importance of flow experiences according to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's theory and encouragement of self development presented by Abraham Maslow's theory of self-actualization. Thesis consists of methodical approaches which are used to help with the realization of such experiences – experiences which enhance natural, genuine growth and complete personality construct. Creative expression among preschool children is placed in correlation with improvisation as a way of expressing child's creation. Through Elly Bašić's musical and pedagogic concept of Functional musical pedagogy, it is explained how spontaneous improvisation can be used as a way of creating quality musical experience and the first encounter with singing and playing musical instruments. With expressing themselves in spontaneous manner, children enjoy the music because of music itself, not because of its structures. Music represents social and hearing experience in one. Every child owns individual skills and potentials which separates them from each other. It is exactly that difference what must be pointed out and preserved through education. Educators duty is to strive and keep that difference alive throughout the childhood. It should be everyone's endeavor to maintain its differences in lifelong learning and accept them in others. Creative thinking becomes significant and longlasting if child's education is being held in an environment which leads him to integral development of personality. Surroundings must motivate all children to nurse their affection for music, to experience it in an active way and to reach new knowledge and techniques by using their free expression.
